We are amateur radio operators and certified storm spotters who report our observations of severe weather to the National Weather Service for improved weather predictions and possible warning of the population. We operate in the counties of Autauga, Elmore, Lowndes, and Montgomery in the Central Alabama area.

We operate on the Montgomery Amateur Radio Club repeater W4AP on 146.84 MHz, and use the W4AP repeater on 147.18 MHz as backup as well as the simplex frequency of 146.56 MHz. We meet every Thursday evening at 7:00 PM CT to operate a training net.

We do not “chase storms” but observe from safe distances. Our main objective is to contribute to public safety and to provide critical information to the National Weather Service.
